Our current projects and collaborations
Assessing the effect of MHealth on HAART-adherence among adolescents (STARTA Trial)
In collaboration with the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, and five hospitals in Nigeria, we are conducting a clinical trial to assess the effect of SMS reminders on HAART adherence among adolescents living with HIV in Nigeria. The RCT is expected to last for one year and is funded by Merck Sharp and Dohme Corporation.
Community Health Promotion initiative
Partnering with the Health Promotion Volunteers Initiative, we have continually delivered health promotion and disease prevention services to communities within and around Sagamu and Odogbolu Local Government Areas in Ogun State, Nigeria since 2014.
Asunle Plus
Asunle plus builds on the success of Asunle. A movie which is aimed primarily on promoting information about cervical cancer control among young women is being translated into three major Nigerian languages. The aim is to reach 500,000 young Nigerian women.
Our past projects and collaborations
Sagamu community centre
Between 2006 and 2012, our founder, Dr. Olumide Abiodun, worked with the Sagamu community centre, a grassroots NGO that promoted public health. Over the years, the centre, led by Dr. Adebukunola Jeminusi led project funded by Department for International Development (DFID), Pathfinder International, Nigeria and Liverpool Associates in Tropical Health (LATH), African Development Foundation, (ADF), Diamond Development Initiatives (DDI), and the American Jewish World Service (AJWS). Projects included grassroots and young people friendly STI/HIV control initiatives.
Evaluation of community-based cervical screening in Nigeria
In 2011, we led the evaluation of the WHO pilot of community-based cervical screening in Nigeria. Working with the Centre for Research in Reproductive Health, we reached 2,000 women, 100 health workers and 58 health facilities across the country to access the effect of the WHO-led effort which had been on for 3 years as at then. The project was funded by the Union for International Cancer Control.
Evaluation of community-based cervical cancer screening program in Nigeria
Promoting cervical screening in Ogun State, Nigeria
Between 2012 and 2016, with funding from Rotary International, Community based organizations and public donations, we promoted cervical cancer control with emphasis on routine cervical screening and HPV vaccination. We also embarked on the dissemination of the National cancer control plan to health professionals and other stakeholders. Door-to-door cervical cancer campaign was carried out.
